Playing Within The Community
The Bruins have been logging a lot of off ice time in regards to helping support community youth programs. Within the last few weeks various team members and organization members have been lending a hand at youth camps around New England. Nothing better than a team who gives back to the fans that love them. This week the Bruins have teamed up with Pro Ambitions hockey to teach necessary skills to youth hockey players at the Haverhill Valley Forum in Haverhill, Ma.
Not only have the Bruins been teaching local youth at summer camps, but some retired Bruins such as Bob Sweeney participated in the Pan Mass Bike Challenge last weekend to raise money for the Boston Bruins Foundation.
Also on the docket for the Bruins… the Charity golf tournament which is being held Monday September 13th at The International in Bolton, Ma.
As much as I love the charity and community involvement I’m gearing up for the start of the season against the Coyotes which kicks off not in Boston and not in Phoenix like you might think. Our season is starting overseas in David Krecji’s homeland. The Bruins will take the ice in Prague on Saturday October 9th. That’s a game that is sure not to be missed!

Let’s Play Catch Up
From this moment forward I promise to be more diligent about keeping you up to date on all things Bruins. In my defense, its hard to keep you up to date when the organization had NO NEWS for a good 3 weeks. It was quite the dry spell but now news is rolling in on a daily basis and I’m loving it! If your anything like me, breaking things down is much easier for processing purposes.
Player Signings:
I’m going to go out on a limb here as I do going into every season and say that I have a good feeling about this team. I’m excited to see what training camp has in store for the legions of fans in Boston. Signed, sealed and hopefully to be seen delivering this season: Blake Wheeler, Daniel Paille and Tyler Seguin. While these three guys have inked new contracts with the team, two fan favorites Zdeno Chara and Patrice Bergeron have started contract extension negotiations. Whew, it’s going to be a busy August!
Staff Signings:
Cam Neely becomes President… of the Bruins although if he ran for the oval office he’d get my vote! The Bruins also hired Doug Jarvis as assistant coach. Jarvis spent 2003-09 behind enemy lines working for the Canadiens association; welcome aboard a real team Doug.

Development Details.
While I may be one to occasionally dwell on the past, I have with much effort decided to look towards the future. The future of what you may ask? The future of the Bruins of course! Last week the Boston Bruins held their annual development camp at Risstucia Arena in Wilmington, MA. From what I’ve been reading and hearing on the news it was a packed house. Whether it was to try and beat the heat or to check out the newest prospects, I’m not sure.
I attended development camp one day last week as I do every season. I have high hopes for the players this year. The most talked about prospect at camp: Tyler Seguin; Tyler was drafted 1st round, 2nd overall in this year’s draft. After watching this kid skate and yes, I say kid since he’s only 18; I was more than impressed. I’ve been wary of Bruins picks before but Seguin is living up to the hype. With incredible speed and stick handling he has major potential to bypass the minors in Providence and skate straight to our beloved streets in Boston with the big boys.
The fans as always were die hard and excited. Being from Boston and a Bruins girl my entire life, I feel the passion every time I see the black and gold. Not only does the team bring a smile to my face, but the pure enthusiasm and unwavering support of the Boston fans is always a jolt of happiness to my heart.
If you’re like me and having major Bruins with drawls there are a few upcoming events to check out. Want to enjoy our beautiful city by sea? The Bruins are hosting the annual Bruins Sunset Harbor Cruise this coming Wednesday July 14th. Looking for a different kind of green than being sea sick? The annual Bruins Golf Tournament will be held Monday September 13th; both events to benefit the 2010 Bruins Foundation.
Keep checking back for all things Bruins!

Do You Bleed Black and Gold?
There are three things you should learn about me, and learn them quick: I live for the first snowflake to fall, the ice to freeze and the perfect sound of a skate gliding back and forth across the ice.
I’m a New Englander, born and raised. It’s a well known fact that being from New England means you support the local teams. I’ve been known to do my part and root for The Sox, The Pats and The Celts… but when it comes to another team— I bleed black and gold. I’m a Bruins girl through and through. From my first game at The Garden, I couldn’t resist loving the team I was raised to watch. Supporting the Bruins is part of my heritage… I’m sure the Pilgrims played hockey down in Plymouth, right?
While you’re probably thinking this is just another blog about the Black and Gold, that’s where your mistaken. Although I’ve set forth a life goal to give my undying devotion to the Bruins (obviously they won’t win the Cup without my support) I’ve also vowed my life to a beautiful six letter word. Its one that you may or may not be familiar with but I hope in reading this site, you’ll begin to love it too:
H-O-C-K-E-Y
Like thousands of others in my region, I’m a proud member of Heartbreak Nation. What is Heartbreak Nation, you may ask? For those of you who aren’t familiar with the local term, it means being a devoted fan of the Boston Bruins. I thought I’d begin the launch of Bruinszone.com with a little team history. The last year Boston got to revel in the pride of winning the Stanley Cup was the 1972 season. Yes, you heard me correctly; 1972.
Fast forward to this past season, a tumultuous one of ups and downs, dirty hits, winning streaks, losing streaks, Winter Classics, and oh yeah, those pesky Philadelphia Flyers— you know, the team that made sure 2010 wasn’t our year for the cup yet again. We faced Game 7 elimination. It was a repeat from the season before. So, let’s hope going into the 2010-2011 season that the third times the charm. Wish our boys luck, and keep checking back for updates on all things Bruins, all the time.
